REVIEW: NEW Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks (+SWATCHES)

So I went out today and came back with four new lipsticks. All I can say is that I NEED to stay away from priceline. In fact I am going to go on a makeup buying ban from now on.

These lovely lippies are Buy One Get One (BOGO) at priceline till the 26th of March. The usual retail price is $13.95 AUD. Not bad for a drugstore lipstick though slightly higher than the average $9.95 AUD lipstick. I think it's because these are a fancy new formulation oOoOooh!

Rimmel has added new colours to their range and here in Australia they have fun English names which I think are great. I say in Australia as the shades have different names in other countries. The colours are gorgeous and there are a wide variety of shades to choose from.
You can view the 12 shades available HERE

Claims: Maximum colour. Lips feel up to 70% more hydrated and up to 60% smoother! SPF 20, Vitamins A, C and E for protected lips.

Packaging: In my opinion they are bulky but I still like them cause I have no purple packaged lippies in my collection. They are sturdy and look nice.

Swatches L-R: Two swipes. Notting Hill Nude (720), Heather Shimmer (220), Piccadilly Pink (150) and In Love with Ginger (660). Top: Natural lighting, Bottom: With flash.

Bare Lips:  My lips were a bit dry so they might look a little janky, sorry! But good for testing out these lipsticks right? :P

Lip swatches (T-B): Notting Hill Nude (720), Heather Shimmer (220), Piccadilly Pink (150) and In Love with Ginger (660). All taken indoors with natural lighting.

Colour descriptions:

  • Notting Hill Nude (720):
Pale pinky nude with some beige that would be nice on most skin tones. I'm quite tan (nc40)and it looks alright on me. Would look amazing with dark smokey bedroom eyes.
  • Heather Shimmer (220):
A browny pink, not too dark. This one makes me look more mature. Would be good for the office and darker ladies.
  • Piccadilly Pink (150):
Blue based medium-lightish pink. I don't know why I bought this, I don't really wear pink lipsticks since I don't think they suit me. This one is ok on me?
  • In Love with Ginger (660):
Bright coral orange. Really fun, colour. If you build it up it looks more red-orange. I was hoping it would be more orange than coral red but it's still a great colour for spring/summer.

My opinion:
Good pigmentation, enough to add colour to my pigmented lips. Though if you want a bolder lip colour you will need more than one layer. I feel like if you look at my lips closely you can still see the dry areas. They were moisturizing though not in the revlon lip butters kind of way but a vaseline way. As you can see in the pictures they give off a glossy finish.

These did feel a bit slippery and I was worried that the colour might slide off. Although it didn't, it did transfer very easily. I wish these were a thicker formula like the Kate Moss range (which I LOVE) but then again these are sold as moisturizing lipsticks and makes no claims on longevity. These had an ok-ish wear, not long lasting but the colour stays on. If you eat you definitely need to touch up.

These sat comfortably on my lips though I did blot my lips with a tissue (which I recommend). I also suggest you exfoliate your lips before wearing these. I also found patting some translucent powder onto my lips made them last longer.Unfortunately these lipsticks did not have a sweet candy-like smell instead they strongly smell and taste like sunscreen.

Would I buy these again? Peronally, no. I prefer thicker lipsticks but if you are someone who likes thinner, moisturizing, glossy, wet-feel lipsticks then you should check these out.

Overall grade: 6.7/10

Love each other,

REVIEW: Irresistible Me Silky Touch Hair Extensions

Irresistible Me is an American company that sells 100% human hair extensions, they offer reasonably priced hair and shipping is free for purchases over $150 USD ($10 otherwise). Over the Valentine's season they were having a sale across all products on their website. If you spent $100, $10 off, $150, $20 off and so on.

I have been wanting real human hair extensions for the longest time but didn't know which ones to get online. I've heard mixed reviews about the Bellami hair extensions and they were in the $200-$300 price range so I jumped the gun and just bought these cause of the sale!

Now there are two different types of hair extensions on Irresistible Me, Silky Touch and Royal Remy. The starting price for Silky Touch hair is $69 and $129 for Royal Remy. Yes, quite a huge difference! The site says that the Royal Remy's are a much higher quality and should last you a long loooooong time (forever?). Unfortunately for me I'm not super rich and only had a $150 budget so I went with the Silky Touch line. I'll come back for the Royal Remy's next time...

The great thing about Irresistible Me is that you get to choose the length AND weight of the extensions you want. I knew I wanted long mermaid hair so I chose to go with 22" (the second longest) and 200g (the thickest) for the weight. The weight you choose depends on your hair type, If you have thick hair like me you will need to go for thicker extensions to help blend them. If you're in doubt always go thicker. Chances are you realise that they weren't as thick as you thought they were.

I chose the colour Chocolate Brown since currently my hair is black/brown. Do not break the security seal if you chose the wrong colour/weight/length. This is because you can send it back for exchange, they do not accept exchanges if it is broken. For the US/Canada exchanges are free, for other countries it is not. If you do not know which colour you are pick the lighter one as you can always dye the extensions.

All up, Silky touch, 22", 200g, Chocolate Brown extensions cost me $160 but with the promo it came down to $140 (I still got free shipping).

It took two weeks to arrive from China (I was expecting them to come from the US) via FedEx and was packaged in a large envelope.

HAUL: Priceline 40% off Haul!

I tried to contain myself and I think I did a good job - my goal was to not spend more than $80 (I spent around $71). I got most of the stuff I've been eyeing out for the longest time on of which was the Australis bronzer in sunkissed. I had to go to 2 different pricelines to find this and it was the last one!

I am obsessed with bronzers. Probably as much as lipsticks. I just love love love contouring. Especially since I feel like I have a fat face with zero cheek bone definition haha so I couldn't resist the Savvy jumbo bronzer which is a whopping 22 grams! (like I'll ever hit pan on this).

I've also been coveting at the Model's prefer infinitie colour eye pencils and only picked up 2 (which I now regret since they are awesome!). I wanted eyeliners that were creamy, easy to apply and do not budge. I love using these on my waterline.

WELCOME

Hey Everyone,

I'm Akire and welcome to my beauty blog!

My beauty journey started in my first year of university and since then I have loved collecting and playing with make up. I would have to say lipstick is my favourite, but I go through phases, haha.

I really view makeup as an artistry rather than a vain hobby. I believe make up is about expression and having fun changing up your looks. Unlike the genes that make up your face, makeup is YOUR own decision and therefore you should be free to choose how you look.

On this blog you will find reviews, hauls, thoughts, tips, fotds and also fashion related posts. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and find it helpful :)

Finally,
3 Let your beauty not be external—the braiding of hair and wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes— 4 but the inner person of the heart, the lasting beauty of a gentle and tranquil spirit, which is precious in God’s sight.1 Peter 3:3-4v (NET)
Love,

Akire
